West Brom and Burnley have ended a Premier League sequence born out of a bore draw at the Amex.

The Baggies and Clarets fought out the first goalless draw of the Premier League season last night.

Their 0-0 came after 46 matches this term with at least one goal.

Until then, the most recent 0-0 was at the Amex in the penultimate round of last term.

That draw versus Newcastle was enough to secure the Seagulls’ Prem status for another year.

There were still four more matches to play in that 37th round as fists were bumped at full-time at the Amex.

None of the four – and none of the ten in the final round – ended 0-0.

In that time, six Albion fixtures (one match last season and five this term) have brought just one clean sheet for or against.

That was for the Seagulls when they won 3-0 at Newcastle.

Albion’s feat in scoring in each of their first five games of the season is a first in the Premier League era but NOT in club history.

Back in 1981-82, they netted in each of their first EIGHT fixtures in the old First Division before suffering a first blank – against West Brom.

The teams drew 0-0 at the Hawthorns.

The Baggies come to the Amex on Monday aiming to again be the first team to shut out the Seagulls.
