Adam Lallana has been backed to get “better and better” as he closes on another Albion landmark.

The former England midfielder could make successive starts for the first time with the Seagulls when they host West Brom.

Improving match fitness and an eight-day gap between games make it more likely he will start in the quest to unlock the Baggies.

Just as importantly, so does his lively and inventive display in the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.

He could start in the attacking four or deeper in midfield, as was the case in the last home match versus Manchester United when Yves Bissouma was suspended.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “He has been available for every game. He has had two or three years where he hasn’t played as much.

“He has played a very different role, he has played a more influential role on the pitch with us.

“He is getting stronger and stronger as we and he’ll get better with time.”

Lallana has been a popular point of contact with the media, similar to Glenn Murray previously, as well as an on-pitch leader.

Potter said: “He brings a personality on and off the pitch, which is important.

“Tactically he is strong and he deals with space very well.

“I thought in the second half (at Palace) he found the pockets really well and contributed to some potential assists so I am really pleased with him.

“We have just got to manage his minutes, manage his load.

“I am pleased he has been available for selection for every game and he will get better and better.”
