Andi Zeqiri is pushing for a first-team matchday squad place.

That is the verdict of Albion head coach Graham Potter as he assesses the recent signing from Lausanne.

The centre-forward scored two goals for Switzerland under-21s during the recent international fixtures.

But he has seen Albion sign former England centre-forward Danny Welbeck to add strong competition for a place up front.

Potter said: “Andi has made a good impression. He brings something different to the group.

“His movement is good, his desire to play football is incredibly strong, he wants to fight for the team, so he is pushing.

“Of course, he is settling in. He went away on international duty, so we've not had too much time with him, but what we've had I really like.

“We can see his quality and then we have just got to help him fit into the team.”

Zeqiri has scored nine goals in the current qualifying campaign for the Under-21s European Championships next year.
