Reda Khadra has made quite an impression for Albion since joining at the start of the month.

He has scored in his first two games for Albion’s U23’s in their 3-2 win over West Ham and their 1-0 win against Liverpool.

Both goals have showcased Khadra’s ability to go past people and his composure in front of goal.

Speaking after the win over Liverpool Albion U23’s manager Rusk was pleased with Khadra.

He said: “He brings a level of individuality. He is a creative player and he has demonstrated that with his goals against West Ham and Liverpool.

“There’s bits to work on with him defensively, but his contribution from an attacking point of view can’t be questioned.”

Someone, who has watched the German youngster in action last season is Benjamin McFadyean-Walsh, who is the president of the official Dortmund fan club in London.

He said: “I watched Khadra a couple of times last season in particular in the U19 UEFA Youth League match in February at Pride Park.

"He joined from fourth tier Tennis Borussia Berlin in 2015/6, played 69 matches for Borussia, scoring 2 goals and 11 assists.

"Of which the majority 39 were at U19 level, a level Borussia are incredibly successful at.

"They have won the German Championship 8 times, most recently in 2019 with Khadra.

“He generally plays on the right wing but has also been played on some occasions on the left-wing so he is versatile.”

McFadyean-Walsh has been impressed by Khadra’s fast start to life at Albion.

He said: “It’s impressive how well Reda has adapted to English football although he is known for his composure and his work rate.

“He looks physically strong as you might expect for a German player.

“I think Reda looks like he is enjoying his football in Brighton and I look forward to seeing his progression.”

McFadyean-Walsh revealed that Khadra would have made the U23’s at Dortmund but turned it down in order to try and get a professional contract.

The winger did have a trial with Manchester United last month and was an unused substitute for their U23’s in their 5-0 defeat to Doncaster.

However, he was not offered a contract and then joined Albion.

Khadra himself is happy with his start to life on the South Coast.

Speaking to the club's website, He said: “I'm delighted with the start to my Brighton career and I hope I can score more goals and help the team to win more matches.

“That's two nice goals for me now and the aim is to get more of those.

“I just want to keep working hard for the coaches and my teammates and then see where it takes me.”

Khadra will be hoping to continue his scoring run tonight as Albion host Leicester U23’s (7pm).

He will most likely find himself out on the right wing again in the first half.

That is after Albion head-coach Graham Potter confirmed in his press conference yesterday that Jose Izquierdo will continue his comeback for Rusk’s side by playing for a third game in a row.

If Khadra can continue to impress this season, then there is no reason why he couldn’t potentially work his way into Potter’s thoughts for next season.

The 23s sit third in the table having picked up 11 points from their opening five games this season and are unbeaten in the league.

A win would see them go top with leaders Chelsea in action away at Liverpool tomorrow afternoon (1pm).
