Adam Lallana would love to see Albion's long-term commitment in Graham Potter pay off.

He believes success being enjoyed by his former club Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp shows the benefit of having patience and faith in a project.

Albion’s ambitions do not include winning the Premier League and Champions League, as achieved by Klopp.

But Lallana, who shared in those triumphs, says the way the Seagulls are planning and building is not unlike what happened at Anfield when they handed the reins to Klopp.

He said: “Obviously, Graham has been backed with a long contract, which is always a great sign because there's going to be some stability at the football club, which doesn't happen so much nowadays.

“I think that's very important and you know they are trusting the process and I think he has got a group of players who trust the process as well and trust what he what he says to us, what he wants us to do, how he wants us to play.

“But these things don't happen overnight. That was one of the similarities.

“At Liverpool it didn't happen overnight with Jurgen. There's definitely a project here and a template of the way they want to work.

“I think that's the foundation to improve and achieving something.”

Lallana believes his experiences at Liverpool can help his current colleagues keep faith when needed.

He added: “I've seen how it works and it is about trust in the process.

“Also, you might take two steps forward, one step back. That happens - and understanding that it's okay as long as you learn the reasons why. It’s going to happen.

“I'm obviously a more senior professional now and I've got a lot of experience behind me.

“There are a lot of young, talented players here. So, I definitely feel that I can help, if people kind of want to be helped, as part of my role here.”

Lallana knows it is key he maintains fitness to enable him to play a full part.

He said: “Brighton have been brilliant with that so far in terms of gradually building me up.

“It helps that there's not a game every three four days.

“I've been available every day since I’ve been here.

“I'm feeling that gradual improvement every time I've stepped on the pitch in terms of being that little bit sharper, which is nice and enjoyable. Hopefully that can continue.”
