Mark Wright has played down reports of him returning to Crawley.

The 33-year-old played nine games on loan at the Reds in the 2006/07 season from Grays Athletic However, he gave up football in 2011 to pursue a career in TV.

Wright was at Crawley’s 1-1 draw against Salford on Saturday and cleared up the rumours.

Speaking to the club's website, he said: “The situation is relaxed. I love playing football it is my number one passion.

“That is what I did as kid, but my career went in a different direction.

“The speculation that I am joining the Reds is a bit far-fetched.

“I have just been training with the boys, I know the gaffer and was at Crawley 14/15 years ago and played nine games under him.

“And just wanted to get fit and be in and around it.

“I love playing football that camaraderie, that banter around the dressing room and I just enjoy training.

“I am here to watch today (Saturday) and feel part of it in all the gear, with the crest on my chest.

“But other than that, I am just training with the squad and enjoying myself. I’m just doing it for fitness for now.”
