Tariq Lamptey has been urged to keep causing “havoc” after extending his extraordinary goals record.

The Albion wing-back scored his first in the Premier League in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.

But he has now played a big part in SEVEN of the Seagulls’ 11 goals in the league this term.

He is set to continue at home to Burnley on Friday, despite limping out of the Spurs clash early.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “I thought he was full of personality - like our team performance to be honest.

“It was a great finish. Nice for him to get in those positions because we try to get him up there.

“I think he can affect their goal, either with goals or assists or causing havoc in the final third.

“Again, another massive performance from him.

“(It was) just a bit of cramp and concern at the end but I think he should be okay.”

Lamptey officially has one goal and one assist, for Leandro Trossard at home to Chelsea, so far this term.

But his thrilling forays have also led to two penalties and an own goal.

His cross led to Neal Maupay scrambling the ball home at Everton when Jordan Pickford fumbled.

And it was Lamptey’s run and pass which carved Newcastle open before Trossard crossed for Maupay to score his second inside ten minutes.

Potter will reinforce an upbeat message as Albion prepare for the clarets’ visit.

He said: “I’ve got a lot of positive feelings about the team.

“They went toe-to-toe with a top team.

“I think Tottenham are a top team with some fantastic players and we responded well to their goal and were in the game for long periods.

“Apart from the result I’m happy with the performance and happy with lots we did.”
