Former Albion defender Liam Rosenior has taken joint interim charge at Derby County.

The Championship’s bottom team today parted company “by mutual consent” with boss Phillip Cocu and two of his coaches.

Wayne Rooney, who is also among the team taking temporary command, is widely thought to be a leading contender to replace Cocu on a more permanent basis.

Rosenior was in charge for the Rams’ most recent league game, a 2-0 home defeat by Barnsley, while Cocu was self-isolating.

The former Barcelona and Holland star won only 18 of his 57 league fixtures in charge.
