EFL teams will be allowed five substitutions per match from this weekend.
The change is expected to increase pressure on the Premier League to follow suit.
Coventry's Championship match against Birmingham and the League Two fixture between Mansfield and Colchester, both on Friday night, will be the first with new rules in place.
Teams in the Championship will be able to make five changes from a pool of nine substitutes, which is the same as Albion would like to see in the Prem.
For those in League One and League Two, including Crawley, it will be a case of five changes from seven subs on the bench.
