Jose Izquierdo started for Albion’s U23’s as they were beaten 2-1 by Blackburn at The Amex Elite Football Performance Centre in the BPL 2 this afternoon.

The winger continued his return from injury by playing 46 minutes for Simon Rusk’s side before being substituted.

He also played his part in Albion taking the lead in the 42nd minute, after he cut the ball back to Jensen Weir on the edge of the area and he swept the ball home.

However right on the stroke of half time the Seagulls went down to ten men, after defender Ben Turns was given a straight red for his challenge on Daniel Pike.

Izquierdo was replaced at half time by Sam Packham.

Weir almost went from hero to zero in the 51st minute, as his sliced clearance went towards his own goal and end up hitting the crossbar.

Albion were then dealt a blow as Reda Khadra limped off and was replaced by Jack Spong.

Spong then had a great chance to double their lead as his effort from the edge of the box hit the underside of the bar.

In the 78th minute Blackburn equalised, from the penalty spot after substitute Connor McBride was pushed by Packham.

McBride stepped up and scored.

Blackburn won the game in the 94th minute, after Issac Whitehall picked out Sam Durrant, who then put his effort into the bottom corner.
