Albion head coach Graham Potter is hoping that fans attending their game against Southampton at the Amex on Monday night can have a positive impact.

It will be the first that the Seagulls have played in front of spectators at the Amex since July when they had a pilot event where 2,500 fans watched on as they took on Chelsea in a pre-season friendly.

This time 2,000 fans will be in attendance to cheer on Potter’s side as they face Southampton in the Premier League.

In fans absence Albion have struggled at home.

They have only won once in the league against Arsenal in June.

Their only victory on home turf this season came in the Carabao Cup as they beat Portsmouth 4-0 in September.

However, Potter is hoping that the fans returning to the Amex, can have a positive impact on their home form.

He said: “Well we hope it is a really positive impact of course.

“I know the players will look forward to seeing them and playing in front of the supporters, it’s what makes football ultimately.

“We have had games at home even post lockdown like Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea being the games we have lost are arguably the games where you really need the supporters and we have had to play behind closed doors.

“So, we hope we can use the support we have, play well, get them involved in the game.

“They can then hopefully provide a good atmosphere and that can help us to play against a good opponent and get a positive result.”
