Kayleigh Green wants Albion to be “gutsy” and get on the front foot against Chelsea.

The Wales international accepts they face a big challenge if they are to give their returning fans a WSL win at the People’s Pension Stadium today (2pm).

But she believes the Seagulls have been too cautious in some matches and does not want a repeat.

Green told The Argus: “We have got to look at ourselves and look at ways we can compete with them.

“They have a lot of depth, a lot of experience - but so do we.

“We have got to put things right that we haven’t done in the last few weeks.

“I guess that’s getting on the ball and playing football and just being a little bit more gutsy.

“Go out there and try and take something.

“We have been a little bit cautious in other games, “We have been on the back foot a little bit and that is something we need to change.

“We need to go out there and be brave.”

Albion will tackle the second of three games which fall between the last international break and the Christmas pause.

The stop-start nature of the campaign does not help teams pick up momentum.

Going into this weekend, no side had won their last two matches.

Green said: “If you look at where we were at the beginning of the season, we had a bit more consistency through September.

“We had some great results and then we had an international break.

“Then we came back again and our results were in between.

“Our performances were in between and then it was an international break.

“It’s kind of hard to find your momentum.

“But we are all experienced full-time athletes and that shouldn’t really make a difference to us.”
