Jose Izquierdo has suffered another injury setback.

The winger missed Albion under-23s’ 2-2 craw at home to Everton last night due to a hamstring issue.

Although the problem is not considered serious, it has put a temporary halt on Izquierdo’s push for match fitness.

He also missed the 23s’ 1-1 draw at Derby this week.

Izquierdo had previously been playing 45 minutes at a time with the youngsters after coming back from a long-term knee injury.

Albion head coach Graham Potter said: “I think it is really tough. We all feel for him. It has been, I imagine, a difficult, nightmare time for Jose.

“I haven’t seen him fit since I have been here so that tells you how long it has been and how frustrating it has been.

“I think the club has tried to support him as best we can and he has worked as well as he can but it is really frustrating and sad.”

“I wouldn’t want to put a timescale on it because it is Jose and I don’t want to put that pressure on but I don’t think it is too long or too bad.”
