Albion remain outside the relegation zone after Covid concerns continue to grow in the Premier League.

That is after 18th place Fulham had to call off their game at Tottenham tonight due to a rising number of coronavirus cases within Scott Parker’s squad.

However, the league has insisted that they will continue to play fixtures.

In a statement released this afternoon the Premier League said: “With low numbers of positive tests across the overwhelming majority of clubs, the Premier League continues to have full confidence in its COVID-19 protocols and being able to continue to play our fixtures as scheduled.”

That is despite the Premier League announcing their highest amount of postive tests so far this season, with 18 new cases between December 21-27.

It becomes the second game this week to be postponed with Manchester City having to call off their trip to Everton on Monday due a rise in the number of coronavirus cases in their squad.

Yesterday Sheffield United revealed they had “a number of positive cases” prior to their 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

There had been talk in the last couple of days of whether the Premier League should consider a ‘circuit breaker’ and halt the season for a couple of weeks.

Albion head coach Graham Potter was asked whether he would be in favour of that idea.

To which he replied: “I’d be whatever the people think is the right thing to do, for the health of our community that is the most important thing. Whatever is deemed right that is what we will do.”

He added: "If they are getting cancelled because of health reasons then that is a concern.

"But we have to make sure that we do the right thing because football is important, but it is not as important as people’s lives and health.”
