Graham Potter expects Albion to trim their first team squad in January.

The Seagulls will add Polish prospect Jakub Moder to their group in the coming days and Percy Tau could follow.

It appears there will be outgoings over the coming weeks.

Head coach Potter said today: “We need to look at the squad we have got. We have got a lot of players, 28 players.

“That number is quite high and you have to look at the players and see if there’s an option to move them to play football somewhere else.

“We have to get that balance right in the January window.”

Albion did not spend lavishly on fees in the summer window.

Potter said: “We have to be smart with what we are doing because we understand the financial situation of the club.

“That doesn’t mean you can’t be successful, that doesn’t mean you can’t have ambition, because we have ambition to be a lot higher than where we are now.

“At the same time you have to have a foundation to work on and not be too risky with what we are doing.

“You have to be careful with that and finances play a part.

“The balance of the group, the numbers of the group, we have got 28 players and that’s probably too many and for the dynamic of the group we probably have to adjust that.”
