To get the lowdown on Albion’s opponents, Newport, I spoke to Chris Kirwan, who covers County for the South Wales Argus:

How impressed have you been by their season so far?

County have been superb. They led League Two from October until last weekend, when their postponed game allowed Carlisle to take over at the top.

Not many rivals would have put County in the mix for automatic promotion but fingers crossed they can have a strong January transfer window and keep it going.

They have caused upsets in the FA Cup in the last few seasons, can they do it again this time round?

They've already done it in the Carabao Cup when they beat Swansea and Watford before losing to Newcastle on penalties.

Not having fans will be a blow but the Rodney Parade pitch could cause Brighton some problems.

If Brighton are off their game, and thinking of the Premier League, then they could come a cropper.

What have you made of the job that Michael Flynn has done at the club during his time there?

Incredible. He helped save them from almost certain relegation in 2017, took them to the play-off final in 2019, has them going for promotion this season and has also helped boost the coffers with cup runs.

Not only that, he's changed their style in the current campaign, building from the back and keeping the ball on the deck.

Who will be the player that Albion need to keep a close eye on?

Josh Sheehan. He pulls the strings from midfield and his form earned a first Wales cap in November.

He came through the Swansea system and it shows; he's clever at finding space, calm under pressure and has a wide range of passing.

Sheehan keeps County ticking and League Two opponents have tried, usually unsuccessfully, to take him out of the game.

He'll be playing at a higher level next season even if County aren't.

How will they line-up?

They have tended to play with wing-backs this season with Ryan Haynes and Liam Shephard providing loads of energy down the flanks.

They've occasionally gone 4-5-1 but the loss of Scott Twine, who was on loan from Swindon, will influence that because he tended to be the man in support of the striker.

What will the score be?

I'll go for 1-1 and extra-time in the freezing cold before someone nicks it late
