Albion beat Newport 4-3 on penalties in the third round of the FA Cup.

Despite both sides having good chances to take the lead in normal time, the deadlock was not broken until the 90th minute.

However, it was a stunning strike from Solly March which put the Seagulls ahead.

He was given the ball by Davy Propper when the Dutch international could have had an effort at goal.

The 26-year-old who has been a star performer for Albion this season at left wing back shifted the ball out of his feet before curling his effort into the bottom corner.

But with the last kick of normal time Newport equalised after Liam Sheppard’s cross was missed by Jason Steele and the ball hit Adam Webster and went in.

The game then went to extra time.

With both sides failing to be separated in extra time, it came down to penalties.

Steele certainly redeemed himself making four great saves.

Albion squandered one chance to win the shootout when Leandro Trossard made a mess of his effort.

However, they were handed another chance to win the tie and it was up to Webster to take it.

The centre-half stepped up to slot his penalty home and send Albion into the fourth round.
