How Albion’s players rated against Manchester City:

Robert Sanchez 8/10:

Made five good saves during the game to deny Kevin De Bruyne three times and then Joao Cancelo and Ilkay Gundogan.

Could do nothing about Phil Foden’s goal.

Got away with one late on after bringing down De Bruyne for a penalty, which substitute Raheem Sterling blazed over.

Joel Veltman 7/10:

Perhaps should have put the ball across goal rather than trying to put the ball across the face of goal.

Made a good clearance to cut out a dangerous attack.

Did well to hold up Foden during the game.

Lewis Dunk 7/10:

A busy night for his defence and they deserved praise for their efforts.

He Made a good sliding block to cut out a cross from the left in the first half.

Adam Webster 7/10:

Saw his pass back to Sanchez picked up by the keeper to give City an indirect free-kick in the box.

Made a good header to cut out a dangerous cross into the box in the first half.

Dan Burn 7/10:

Did well on his return to the starting 11 given the quality he came up against.

Made a couple of good defensive headers to stop goalscoring opportunities.

Bernardo 7/10:

Tried to jump and nick the ball early on off Riyad Mahrez and was turned.

Made a vital clearance to stop Mahrez getting on the end of De Bruyne’s cross.

Davy Propper 7/10:

Should have done better when he was allowed room to get forward, but instead gave the ball away.

Had Albion’s only shot on target when his Volley just outside the box was straight at Ederson.

Was replaced by Solly March in the 68th minute.

Ben White 6/10:

Moved back into midfield although at points dropped in to make it a six at the back.

Did well in the middle alongside Propper.

Alexis Mac Allister 8/10:

A great performance from the Argentinian after his quiet night on Sunday against Newport

He played a nice pass through to Trossard, one of Albion’s best chances of the first half. Made a nice block to stop De Bruyne’s goal-bound free kick.

Had an effort from distance which was just over the bar.

Percy Tau 8/10:

Made his Premier League debut and looked lively and tried to get his side on the front foot.

Put in a good delivery from a corner, which set-up Propper for their only shot on target.

Was replaced by Neal Maupay in the 68th minute, who failed to make an impact.

Leandro Trossard 6/10:

Had the Seagulls’ best chance of the first half but flashed his effort wide.

Looked busy but he did not create as many chances as he might have hoped.

Was replaced by Reda Khadra in the 86th minute.

Substitutes:

Neal Maupay 6/10:

Came on for Tau but did not really do much.

Solly March N/A:

Came on for Propper but his delivery from set-pieces was not the best.

Reda Khadra N/A:

Made his senior debut but did not have enough time on the pitch.
