Albion head Graham Potter has revealed what he told his side at half time in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City.

The Seagulls had defended well throughout the first half, but conceded a goal a minute before the break.

But when asked if that altered his team talk at the break, Potter told the Argus: "I felt we were a little bit wasteful with our possession when we went to attack, you don't get some many chances.

"The knock on to that is you end up defending a little bit deeper than you want to and you cannot put as much pressure on the ball as you want to.

"We had to improve that area then try to step out and step on, re-adjust things a little bit, push Bernardo on a bit higher and wider.

"We played Leo (Trossard) more central, to try and get hold of the ball and have the ball a bit more than we did because you cannot just come here and defend it is impossible."

Jason Steele was not part of the squad after starting in the win over Newport on Sunday.

With him not being involved in the squad Christian Walton was on the bench.

But Potter revealed why Steele was not part of the squad was due to 'Illness'

Potter jokingly added: "I think he got a bit excited with all the penalties he had to save and he feels a bit ill now."
