Graham Potter felt Alexis Mac Allister had his best game for Albion against Manchester City last night.

The 22-year-old played his first full 90 minutes for the Seagulls just under a year after they recalled from him from his season-long loan spell at Boca Juniors.

The Argentinian midfielder was at the heart of everything that Albion did well last night and also went close from distance himself.

But Potter was full of praise for Mac Allister's and thought it was his best performance in an Albion shirt.

He said: "I would say the best, I thought he again gave everything.

"He played against a top team and you have to credit them for that, but I thought he was amazing."

Mac Allister has not had the easiest of times at the club with illness and injury halting his progress.

When he has been fit he has had to bide his time and wait for his opportunity.

However, Potter hopes he can build on his performance against City.

He said: "It would almost be a long time and it's difficult explaining why it sometimes happens that way.

"There was illness and a bit of injury, but he is a fighter and he wants to fight for the team.

"He gives everything and that is the kind of character we want around."
