Albion are reportedly closing in on the signing of Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo.
The highly-rated Ecuador international is a player that the Seagulls are interested in.
Some reports have suggested that a fee of around £4.5 million has been agreed between the two clubs and that Albion are just waiting for a work permit to complete the deal.
Independiente Del Valle club’s director of football Santiago Morales had said on Monday that a deal was in place with a Premier League club for Caicedo.
When Potter was asked last night about whether Caicedo could be an Albion player by this weekend, he refused to comment.
He said: "No comment. To be honest I have had my head down focussing on Newport and Manchester City this week.
"So, there is a lot of speculation at this time of year and I haven't got anything to report."
