Albion remain five points clear of Fulham after they were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea at Craven Cottage.
Chelsea hit the frame of the goal in the 25th minute after Ben Chillwell's cross was headed clear by Antonee Robinson, but it went straight to Mason Mount.
His effort from a tight angle then rattled the bar.
The Cottagers were reduced to ten men just before half time after Robinson flew into a tackle on Cesar Azpilicueta and referee Peter Bankes pulled out a red card.
Mount did finally give Chelsea the lead in the 78th minute after Chillwell's cross was palmed away by Alphonse Areola to the England midfielder, who volleyed the ball into the net.
Fulham travel to the Amex a week on Tuesday.
