Albion defender Tariq Lamptey has signed a new four-year-deal, which keeps him at the club until June 2025.

The Argus reported on Thursday that Lamptey was closing to signing a new deal.

The 20-year-old has been a star performer for the Seagulls since making his debut in June against Leicester.

He has continued to impress so far this season making 11 appearances, scoring one goal and getting three assists.

Lamptey scored his first Premier League goal in their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in November.

His form has also seen him earn his first call-up and win his first cap for England U21's in September.

Lamptey is currently out with a hamstring injury, which has seen him miss Albion's last seven games.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “We are delighted to see Tariq commit his long-term future here.

"We knew his potential when we signed him a year ago, and hoped he would have a really positive impact on the club, and that has proved to be the case with his performances since June.

"He has been the model professional, he works exceptionally hard, is a humble lad and is a team player.

"He fits in with everything we would want from a player, now it’s about helping him reach his potential."
