Luton manager Nathan Jones admits he 'would love' to re-sign Albion keeper Christian Walton one day.

The 25-year-old has found game time hard to come by with Robert Sanchez starting and Jason Steele being preferred as the number two over Walton and Maty Ryan.

That has seen Walton linked with a move back to Luton where he impressed on loan in 2016-17.

But The Argus understands that a goalkeeper is not a priority for the Hatters this month as they already have three, including Simon Sluga, a Croatian international and their club record signing who is in fine form at the moment.

However, former Albion player and boss Jones would love to sign Walton again one day.

Speaking to Luton today, he said: “We really like Christian, I know Christian really well obviously from my time at Brighton and from his time here.

“He’s a Brighton goalkeeper and he is someone that will always get linked with us because of the relationship we have with him.

“We care about him, we want him to do well but if ever I had the opportunity to re-sign Christian further down the line or whatever then I would take it.

“You never know, if we had a clean slate and I didn’t have any goalkeepers here for example then Christian would be very high on my list because one, his goalkeeping ability, his prowess and then also we have had him here.

“He will always get linked, we always want him to do well and if I had an unlimited budget and unlimited number then he would be one we’re interested in.

"There is no point commenting on that now because the scope is different.”

Walton has been named on the bench for the Seagulls in their last two Premier League games with Steele being ill.
