Albion defender Bernardo has joined one of his former clubs Red Bull Salzburg on loan for the rest of the season.

The 25-year-old has struggled for game time this season and has only made three appearances in the Premier League, of which two have come in recent weeks in the defeats to Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, he did feature three times for the Seagulls in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign, where he scored and got an assist in the 4-0 win over Portsmouth at the Amex in September.

He also picked up an assist in the following round in the win at Preston.

With Solly March and Dan Burn being preferred at left back in the league, the Brazilian has found himself as an unused substitute or not in the squad for the majority of this season.

Head coach Graham Potter said: "Bernardo is at a stage of his career where he wants to be playing regular football.

"This move should give him the opportunity to do that.

"We wish him well for the rest of the season and we will watch his progress with interest."

Bernardo returns to the club where he made his name in Salzburg.

In his two seasons at the Austrian side, he made 26 appearances scoring three goals and getting an assist before he moved to German side Red Bull Leipzig.
