Albion forward Andi Zeqiri is putting in the hard yards both on and off the pitch.

The 21-year-old joined from Swiss side FC Lausanne–Sport over the summer.

He has so far had to bide his time as he adjusts to a new country and a new league.

Zeqiri was handed his Premier League debut in their 1-1 draw against Sheffield United last month after coming off the bench.

He then made his first start in their win over Newport in the FA Cup.

But Zeqiri revealed he has been working hard in training to make sure he is ready when he called upon.

He said: “I know that football in England is very different from other countries because everything goes ten times faster.

“This has helped me improve. I learn something every day, tactically and technically.

“I know that I still have lots of hurdles ahead of me and improvement to make but I try to progress so that I am on the top of my game if I am in the team. That’s my challenge every day.”

Zeqiri revealed he is putting in the work off the pitch.

He said: “I set myself the goal of learning English quickly, I had to understand the coach’s system and where he wanted me to play.

“I have English lessons three times a week - an hour each time - and that has helped me a lot.

"Now when people speak in English I am able to more or less understand. I am not shy to talk so I try to have as many conversations with the players as possible.”
