Steven Alzate can help Albion through a hectic period after enjoying some welcome game time.
Alzate was given an hour in the 2-1 win against Blackpool and went off soon after his unwitting winning goal.
Head coach Graham Potter used his versatility in a left wing-back role to help maintain team shape and get him some playing time.
Alzate has been ill in recent weeks and had not been on the pitch since going on as sub at West Ham on December 27.
Potter said: “It’s the first time Steven has played for a bit. He has been ill so he has had to recover from that, which has been a bit frustrating for him.
STOCKPORT COULD PAY ALBION A HUGE COMPLIMENT
“So it’s just time on the pitch.
“We are going into a busy period so it was important we got as many players minutes as we could.
“If the game was a bit more straightforward we could ha e done some other stuff.
“But we couldn’t. We wanted to get through and get the game won.
“But nice for him he gets an hour in the end.”
