We asked four long-serving fans for their thoughts on Albion's draw with Aston Villa – and how the Seagulls can score more goals.

What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance?

James Heasman: Another great performance, but again such little quality in the box. Our passing was excellent and we also had great movement. Defensively we look very solid since Sanchez came in.

Tim Ayling: Perfect in every way, except one rather glaring issue. This isn’t new though, so it’s pointless to dwell. Potter must be pulling his hair out.

Colin Beales: A dominant performance that kept Villa relatively quiet throughout, but another game we lacked that vital goal.

Alan Brownings: We had 26 shots and didn’t score and we’ve only scored 25 goals all season. We’ve only scored more than once six times and only won twice when we have. Maupay and Trossard have nine (Maupay seven) between them, it’s not hard to see why we’re not winning games.

Who was your pick of the Albion players?

James Heasman: Quite difficult, as there were a number of great displays. Dunk is back to his best, the real Leandro Trossard has returned and Ben White looks very comfortable. However, my man of the match was Joel Veltman, superb throughout, and allowed Grealish no space.

Tim Ayling: Veltman played really well and was my man of the match. He rose above Grealish’s ludicrous diving. They all played well though and really should have won.

Colin Beales: I’d say Joel Veltman for this one. Is Jack Grealish still in his pocket?

Alan Brownings: Veltman had a solid game and delivered the best cross of the night that Mac Allister squandered.

The defence is solid but any ideas on how Albion can increase their goals tally?

James Heasman: The signing of a mobile forward with more of a physical presence must be a priority in the summer. In the meantime, Maupay does seem better as part of a front two, but that might compromise us elsewhere on the pitch.

Tim Ayling: If Mac Allister had scored with a free header from five yards, we wouldn’t be talking about it, but we should. My view is we need a striker with a physical presence that can bully the centre-backs a bit. That kind of player creates space in the box and gives defenders something to think about.

Colin Beales: I think it’s partly a confidence thing, we’re due to give someone a thrashing soon. Let’s hope it’s Palace!

Alan Brownings: I don’t know what the answer is but I don’t think it lies with Trossard alongside Maupay. Maybe it’s time to give Percy Tau a decent run in the side?
