Albion keeper Robert Sanchez admits he has been surprised with how well he has done so far in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old made his league debut in the 2-1 defeat at Tottenham in November.

He then missed out on the squad in their next five games with Maty Ryan regaining his place in between the sticks.

However, Sanchez came back in for the 0-0 draw at Fulham in December and has been the No.1 since.

He has made 13 appearances for Albion in the league and kept six clean sheets.

But Sanchez admits he has been shocked with how well he has performed so far this season.

He told The Argus: “I am really happy about it. Obviously, from my own point of view, I did better than I thought I would do at the start because I thought maybe I needed more games to get to a good level. But concentrating has given me the results that I wanted.”

Sanchez has also revealed he is not looking too far into the future and instead tries to focus on the next match.

He said: “I don’t like to look at the future because you don’t know what might happen.

“My performances could drop off or I could get injured.

“I like to live in the moment and think about the next game.

“The next game is Palace, so I will concentrate on training well and get ready for the game.

“Hopefully, I can keep a clean sheet or we win and then we look forward to the next match.”
