It looks like Albion might not play against Wilfried Zaha tomorrow.

The Crystal Palace star has been ruled by injury out of late.

His manager Roy Hodgson did not specifically ruled him out of the trip to the Amex when he spoke to the media first thing on Thursday morning – still four-and-a-half days before the match itself.

But why would Hodgson give any clues away if there is doubt in the opposition camp?

He told reporters: “He's still suffering from the injury, there's no question of that.

“The doctors in particular and physios are very anxious to not put dates on people so they would be very angry with me if I suggested dates he could return.”

So we will not know for sure whether Zaha is involved until teams are revealed at 7pm tomorrow.

The Argus:

THE SCORER OF THIS GOAL IS MAKING PROGRESS AFTER INJURY

FULHAM TURN UP PREM HEAT

Albion fans know Zaha loves playing against their side – but exactly how much?

We know he has scored seven goals against then, the last four of which have all come at Selhurst Park.

We know he has been a part of three wins at the Amex.

But exactly how much trouble has he caused the Seagulls?

2011-12: Zaha scored the equaliser with a meandering run and gentle but well-placed shot as his side’s late show secured a 3-1 win at the Amex, so handing Albion their first defeat at their new home. He was fouled by Will Buckley for the Palace penalty, converted by Chris Martin, as the sides drew 1-1 in a relatively low key return fixture at Selhurst Park.

2012-13: He was not a big player in the two league games, which both ended in 3-0 home wins, or the goalless first leg of the play-off semi-final but scored twice in the return fixture to see Palace to Wembley.

2017-18: The 0-0 draw at the Amex was totally forgettable, although Zaha had a goal disallowed. He scored twice when Palace won the return 3-2. It was his first double in the Premier League and included his first headed goal in the top flight. His performance in the first half that that day ended Ezequiel Schelotto’s Albion career under Chris Hughton, although he later reappeared when Graham Potter was in charge. 2018-19: Little to report this time as Albion did the double.

2019-20: The game at Selhurst Park showed his value to Palace. He dragged his side back into the game with a well-taken goal as they forced a 1-1 draw having been outplayed for long periods. He played in the Eagles’ 1-0 win at the Amex.

2020-21: Calmly converted a controversial penalty as the teams drew 1-1 at Selhurst Park, taking him to seven goals against Albion.

Zaha has missed two trips to the Amex previously.

He was rested for an FA Cup tie in January, 2018, which the Seagulls won 2-1.

And he was left out of an England under-21s fixture back in March, 2013.

There was much debate as to how Albion fans would welcome the Palace man as their stadium hosted a fixture against Austria.

The game was just eight days after the rivalry had been stoked by the Seagulls’ 3-0 win over Palace in the Championship.

But England boss Stuart Pearce revealed at training the day before the match that Zaha would be absent as he underwent a dental procedure.
