Adam Lallana could be asked to make an impact late on against Crystal Palace.

The former Liverpool man was creative when introduced for the final push at home to Aston Villa.

He is not expected to play 90 minutes against Palace but could be used to offer late impetus to the hosts’ attacking or possession play.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “I think Adam is such a unique character, a unique person, a unique player, that rather than the end game should be he’s playing 90 minutes all the time, it’s about he can influence the game and at what point he can influence the game.

“He has had a few problems with little issues of illness and injury but I think he still influences the back end of games really well. And sometimes he’ll be able to start games and influence them then.

“The key thing here is he just wants to help the team.”

“Sometimes that’s from the side, sometimes that’s on the pitch, sometimes that’s from the start and sometimes that’s at the end.

“I think he is mature enough and intelligent enough as a person to know that role and play that role and do it well.”
