Solly March has been told he can improve on probably his best season yet.

The wing-back is recovering from a knee injury and has drawn a line under the 2020-21 campaign.

Head coach Graham Potter believes the former winger has revelled in his current role.

And he is convinced there is more to come next term.

March was always known as one of the more defensively aware wingers.

Potter says a combination of attacking flair and defensive diligence have been well employed as part of the current Seagulls set-up.

He told The Argus: “Without knowing the whole of Solly’s career so far I would say it probably has been his best season.

“Consistently he has reached a really good level.

“I think everybody has been aware of his capability and his highest end has always been very positive.

“It’s just maybe we haven’t been able to get as much of that out as possible.

“I think this year we have made steps there. He has made steps there, credit to him.

“Probably the wing-back system suits him. I think it is probably his best position. It can show his qualities off a lot.

“Not only is he able to create things in the wide areas, he is good in possession, good defensively - better than you would think for a wide player.

“The exciting thing, I always say, is I think there is more to come from him. The aim should be to get fit, come back stronger and improve. I don’t think we saw the absolute best of Solly but he took some steps.”
