Match Of The Day pundits have weighed in on the no-goal controversy which angered Albion at West Brom.

But presenter and former striker Gary Lineker pointed out referee Lee Mason was not the only man to make a mistake at the Hawthorns.

Mason came under fire for ultimately disallowing a quickly taken free-kick by Lewis Dunk.

He had no option but to rule put the goal once he had blown his whistle for a second time - for reasons still unexplained.

Ex Manchester City defender Micah Richards said: “It’s correct but he still then gives the goal which I don’t understand.

“He has made a catalogue of mistakes.

“He has given it, given the goal, blown the whistle, he has taken it.

“Then he blows the whistle again before, which is ridiculous.

“But he has given the goal. There were so many mistakes.”

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas gave credit to the Albion skipper, saying: “Lewis Dunk has been smart. Has been clever.

“He has asked the question and waited for the whistle.

PLAYER RATINGS FROM WEST BROM

“It’s a tough one for Brighton and Lewis Dunk to take.”

Lineker said Mason made a mistake and pointed out: “So do players. Brighton missed two penalties.”

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison told Sky Sports today he agreed with Dunk that Mason should explain the decision.

Mason has withdrawn from officiating this evening due to injury.

He was due to be fourth official at the Sheffield United v Liverpool fixture.

Mason could be seen limping in the closing stages at the Hawthorns.
