Celtic fans have criticised defender Shane Duffy over an ill-judged social media post citing his time at Brighton as the "good old days".

The Hoops ace shared footage of a header he scored for the Seagulls and he captioned it, with a laughing emoji, "the good old days". But Celtic supporters did not see the funny side and bombarded the tweet with angry replies.

One said: "Read the room Shane, you have been an unmitigated disaster at Celtic but at least you are being well paid for your troubles." Another complained: "Ah the good old days before you were a Celtic player... how we hope for their return..."

One moaned: "Aye the good old days, before we had to see you in a Celtic Shirt." And a fourth added: "The good old days before you came to celtic, then forgot how to play football, Shambles".

Others urged their fellow Hoops fans to calm down with the fury, with one saying: "No need for the vile comments, it never worked out for Shane at Celtic this season end of. Guarantee there is no one more devestated(sic) than he will be. Best of luck for the future big man."

Duffy has come under fire this season for some poor performances since joining on loan from Brighton. He has made some high-profile blunders and fans have criticised him at different stages this term.

We told how former Rangers man Derek Ferguson admitted he felt Duffy had been completely devoid of confidence all season while Light Blues fans yesterday mocked the Irishman outside Parkhead with a banner that read: "Thanks for the memories Shane Duffy".
