Albion are facing a test of their quality and character as they fight for Premier League status.

The Seagulls are outside the drop zone on goal difference - with a game in hand - after a dramatic weekend in the survival battle.

They let slip a lead at home to Leicester to lose 2-1 before Newcastle drew at West Brom and Fulham won 1-0 at Liverpool yesterday.

Burnley are not out of it yet, despite a fortunate point against Arsenal.

The Seagulls could slip into the bottom three before they play Sunday’s game at Southampton.

That is followed by a six-pointer at home to Newcastle.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “In this league you have to approach every game as a possibility to get points.

“We went to Anfield and won, we beat Tottenham so we are capable of winning any game. But every game is difficult as well.

“We are where we are. We know we need to fight to get more points.

“We know we are in this battle.

“We have to accept that challenge and that is what we will do.”

The Seagulls are at Southampton next Sunday for a midday kick-off which is being shown live by the BBC.

Newcastle play on Friday night at home to Aston Villa and Fulham host Manchester City on Saturday (both 8pm).

The final weekend before the international break sees Fulham host Leeds on the Friday night before the Saturday showdown between Seagulls and Toon.
