Albion head coach Hope Powell has won the Barclays WSL manager of the month award for February.

Powell help guide the Seagulls to wins over West Ham and a first victory in the WSL over Chelsea.

It was her third manager of the month award and Powell was delighted to have won the award.

She said: “Compared to the other awards it feels quite special because it included a standout performance against Chelsea, who hadn't lost for nearly two years.

“Losing to Bristol City at the end of January was a real low point but we have been really good since then.

"Everyone has played a massive part – it's not just about me – and I have to say the players have been fantastic, they are the ones who have gone out there and performed and played beyond recognition compared to the start of the year.

“I'm very honoured to win this award on behalf of everyone at the club and hopefully we can keep the winning run going.”

Graham Potter has praised Powell for the 'fantastic' job she has done.

He said: "Hope has done an amazing job in difficult circumstances, they've come through a tricky period which shows the quality of Hope's work.

"It has not been plain sailing for them, they've had to fight through some tricky results, but congratulations to both her and her team."

However, Albion forward Aileen Whelan missed out on the player of the month award to Manchester City's Lucy Bronze.
