Tariq Lamptey has been urged to build on his “fantastic” start to Premier League life.

The right wing-back is looking to pre-season after head coach Graham Potter confirmed his current campaign is over.

Lamptey has been suffering hamstring issues since December and has had surgery.

He was limited to just 11 Premier League starts this term but made a huge impression.

Potter told the Argus: “He made an incredible start and a fantastic impact building on what he did at the back end of last season.

“It’s just frustrating for him and for us that we haven’t seen as much of him as we would like.

“The focus has got to be on helping him be back stronger and fitter and ready for the start of next season.

“He is a huge talent, he has got huge potential and he’s a fantastic person so we have missed him.

“When he has played, he has helped the team. You can see his qualities quite clearly.

"He has got incredible pace and ability to threaten the back line of the defence so we are happy with that.”

“He has still got lots to do because he is only young and he has a lot to improve and I am sure that will happen.”
