We asked four long-time Albion fans for their thoughts on the win over Newcastle.

And whether they suffered any flashbacks to previous matches as the first half developed....

What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance?

Colin Beales﹕Well I don’t think we’ve looked that good since we played Newcastle earlier in the season. Dominated throughout and some fine goals.

James Heasman﹕Brighton played very well against a poor Newcastle team. Subtle tactical changes by Potter made a difference, and enabled Moder some early chances. We looked solid defensively and everyone played their part - three excellent goals as well!

Tim Ayling﹕ Newcastle were awful, but you can only beat what’s in front of you. We were very good on the ball and clinical again. The forwards seem to have found a little form at the right time.

TROSSARD HAS THE RIGHT ARROGANCE AND CONFIDENCE

Alan Brownings﹕ Possibly the best performance of the season, despite previous high profile wins. It was a pleasure to finally see an end product and some quality finishing all around. The fans have been waiting a long time for that and will have enjoyed it immensely.

Who was your pick of the Albion players?

Colin Beales﹕This is the hardest question this week. Lallana and Welbeck were brilliant again. Moder had a debut start that excites me for his future, but I’m going to hail the return to form of Bissouma. Absolutely bossed the midfield.

James Heasman﹕Perhaps the most difficult choice this season. Moder had an excellent game, as did White and Veltman, but once again I will go for Lallana, who owned the midfield and is so intelligent in possession.

Tim Ayling﹕Welbeck, Lallana and Trossard were all good. Moder made a very good impression too, and nice to see Bissouma returning to form. Welbeck probably shaded man-of-the-match.

Alan Brownings On any other day Trossard, but Danny Welbeck was immense and seemingly rolled back the years! What an immense contribution and top drawer finish.

Be honest - any flashbacks to previous games as they reached 45 minutes dominating but still level?

Colin Beales﹕At the time I don’t think I really thought this, however I noticed the calmness of my pulse rate in the second half versus the first that says my subconscious was very aware.

James Heasman﹕ 100% yes. Until Trossard’s moment of magic, it was following this season’s pattern. We looked so confident once we’d scored.

Tim Ayling﹕ Of course! I commented to a friend that Moder would fit right in after he missed those two early chances. But we came good and maybe finally we can actually win these kind of games regularly.

Alan Brownings﹕Definitely. We could have been four up after 11 minutes! But the introduction of Welbeck to the starting line-up has been a revelation. The movement, vision, sleight of touch and general all round ability provide a real cutting edge and renewed vigour and confidence.
