Phil Salt will miss the start of Sussex’s season due to a cycling accident.
The batsman injured his right foot in a collision ahead of the pre-season friendlies.
It is not yet clear for how long he will be sidelined but he misses the LV= Insurance County Championship opener away to Lancashire tomorrow.
Aaron Thomason and Tom Haines will open the batting.
A club statement today read “An estimate of the time required for Phil to return to action will be made following further imaging and consultation with a specialist.”
Sean Hunt, signed from the Surrey Academy over the winter, could make his first-class debut.
CHRIS ADAMS AND SUSSEX LEGENDS WILL HAVE A ROLE THIS SEASON
Jack Carson and Henry Crocombe are in contention for their maiden Championship appearances after making their first-class debuts in last summer’s Bob Willis Trophy.
