Albion remain six points above the bottom three after Adama Traore's stoppage time strike helped Wolves to beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage.
Wolves thought they had taken the lead in first half stoppage time through Willian Jose, after he headed in Daniel Podence's cross.
However, VAR ruled it out as in collecting the ball prior to his delivery from the right, Podence's upper arm was a fraction ahead of the toe of the final defender.
Traore then decided the match in the 92nd minute after he was released down the right and up against some tired defensive legs, he seized his chance, firing a drive past Alphonse Areola.
The defeat means Fulham stay 18th, a place and three points behind Newcastle and six points off the Seagulls
However, Scott Parker's side have also now played two games more than both the Magpies and Albion and with just six games to go for them, their opportunities to get themselves out of trouble are limited.
