Sussex wrestled back control on day three of their LV County Championship match against Lancashire at the Emirates Old Trafford.

Lancashire began the day on 339 for 5, but added just 68 runs to their total thanks to some superb work from debutant Sean Hunt, who picked up two wickets in the space of four overs to finish the innings with figures of three for 47.

The start of play was delayed by over two hours due ice on the covers and snow falling in Manchester, but when the Sharks came out it did not take them long to make the breakthrough.

Hunt trapped Luke Wood and Danny Lamb lbw in the space of four overs to leave the Roses 354 for 7.

Tom Bailey managed to hang around with Dane Villas and make 24, before being run out by Garton.

Lancashire then added another 13 runs for their last two wickets, with skipper Villas being the last man to go after being caught by Aaron Thomason off the bowling of Jack Carson, for 189.

That left the hosts 106 runs ahead.

Openers Thomason (23 not out) and Tom Haines (14 not out) managed to bat through the first 21 overs before a mixture of bad light and sleet saw play abandoned for the day.

Sussex finished on 38-0 and trail Lancashire by 68 runs heading into the final day.
