Maty Ryan did Albion a favour today - with a header as a makeshift attacker.
The on-loan goalkeeper went forward for a corner deep into added time as Arsenal trailed Fulham 1-0.
He got his head to the flag kick and, when Granit Xhaka's shot was saved, Eddie Nketiah guided home the rebound to break Fulham hearts.
Fulham move to 27 points. Albion are on 33 with a superior goal difference and two games in hand.
The Cottagers had looked set to re-ignite their survival hopes with a win.
Josh Maja beat Ryan with a 59th-minute spot kick in another match which will be remembered for desperately tight VAR decisions.
Dani Ceballos had a first-half goal ruled out for the Gunners for a millimetric offside spotted after a lengthy check.
The spot kick was given after VAR checks both for a foul and an offside in the build-up.
Ryan went the wrong way as Maja sent his shot high into the net.
