Crawley head coach John Yems felt his side were simply 'not good enough' after their 2-0 defeat at Newport County last night.

Second half goals from Liam Shephard and Aaron Lewis dented the Reds hopes of making the play-offs.

Crawley were disappointing throughout and failed to create clear-cut chances.

But Yems felt they were completely 'outplayed'.

He said: “We weren’t at it tonight.

"We weren’t good enough all over the pitch. Newport outplayed us and we didn’t compete. It’s very disappointing.

They were also reduced to ten men in the 89th when striker Tom Nichols was shown a straight red for violent conduct, but yems admits they now have to move on.

He said: “All red cards are difficult to take and it’s always frustrating.

"We have another game to play for and we will move on to the next one now.”

The defeat leaves Crawley six points off the play-offs having played a game more than Newport.
