Sussex and England star Jofra Archer has stepped up the intensity of his training on his recovery from surgery.

The 26-year-old only had surgery last month on his finger to remove a piece of glass that had got lodged in their after he smashed his fish tank when cleaning it in the bath.

He then resumed light training last week with the intention of stepping up the intensity of this week.

That certainly looked the case as he was in the nets bowling and batting at the 1st Central County Ground, whilst Sussex were impressing on the field with both bat and ball against Yorkshire on Day One of their County Championship match.

After lunch, Archer came out and did some sprints pitchside with a member of the Sussex coaching team.

Sussex and England medical staff have been working alongside each other to see how Archer responds to the step up in intensity, with them not just keep an eye on his finger but also a long-term elbow problem he has had.

There is a possibility that Archer could feature for Sussex in their County Championship match away at Northants on May 6.
