Albion could receive a small windfall.

Two of the three teams that were relegated from the Premier League last season have come back up at the first time of asking, with Norwich and Watford having been automatically promoted.

They were still due a combined £83m from the Prem in parachute payments (PP) over the next two years.

But now the league will now no longer have to pay them following their returns to the top flight, it means that sum will now be distributed between the 20 Premier League clubs.

However, if Bournemouth were to win the play-offs and return to the top flight, that figure would increase as that would be more PP the Premier League would not have to pay.

Football finance lecturer, and Albion fan, Kieran Maguire explained how the payments would differ if Bournemouth were to come up.

He said: “The money saved on parachute payments will go into the overall pot which is distributed.

“It’s two years of PP for Watford and one for Norwich due to their entitlements.

“Bournemouth getting promote would be another £47 million for two years.”

Despite that it is not yet known when the clubs will receive their payments and how it will be distributed to them.

The payment to Albion is also dependent on them staying up.
