Albion have been told they weren’t terrible in their much-criticised defeat at rock-bottom Sheffield United.

The Seagulls look to end a run of four games without a win as they tackle Leeds at the Amex.

They have also gone 13 minutes short of six hours without scoring.

The 1-0 defeat at Bramall Lane was preceded by creditable goalless draws against Everton and Chelsea.

In particular they will look to improve on their first-half efforts last Saturday.

Head coach Graham Potter said: “It’s disappointing to lose, firstly.

“At the same time I wouldn’t want to disrespect Sheffield United because it’s not to say they can’t win games in the Premier League.

“It’s not so long back that they were in a good place in the league – this time last year.

“When you’re fighting for your future and your career, they are still professional footballers and Premier League players.

GRAHAM POTTER READY FOR TOUGH PREMIER LEAGUE RUN-IN

“It doesn’t surprise me that it’s possible for them to win.

“We’re just disappointed that we didn’t hit our maximum.

“I don’t think we were terrible. On another day I think we could have got something from the game, but we didn’t, that’s the margins in the Premier League.

“They scored from one of their only attacks in the game.

“We had a few more and couldn’t score.

“It’s not a complete disaster, it’s just a disappointing result.”

Albion will look to repeat the 1-0 win they enjoyed over Leeds in January.

A single Neal Maupay strike that day rounded off a gruelling week in style.

Potter said: “It was at a really tricky moment for us.

“We had just played Manchester City and Newport County – it was our third game in a week.

“We showed real resilience and character, intelligence in our play.

“We won 1-0, it could have been a draw, but it went our way that time.

“They are a good opponent and it was a difficult playing surface at the time, which probably contributed to the game.

“I am expecting a similar thing in terms of a tough match, a high tempo one, one where we have to be really good to get the points.”
