Ben Brown admitted to a feeling of déjà vu as his Sussex side suffered home defeat.

Sussex went down by five wickets to Lancashire, who were chasing 253, in the LV= Insurance County Championship.

That followed a similarly valiant defeat to Yorkshire last week as a youthful side are tested by two of the big guns of county cricket.

Sussex had a first innings lead of 98 over Lancashire but were bowled out for 154 in their second innings.

Jack Carson took two wickets today to make it seven in the match before Keaton Jenings guided the visitors home on the final afternoon with 91 not out.

Skipper Brown said: “It feels almost a bit of déjà vu from last week really. Similar emotions.

SCORECARD

“Proud of how we fought in the game and how we performed against a much more experienced side.

“But ultimately disappointed to have had opportunities to win the game and just not quite shown that craft and experience perhaps to really ram home an advantage that we created in the first innings.
