Albion midfielder Taylor Richards believes his loan move to Doncaster Rovers has been 'perfect for him'.

The 20-year-old made his 40th League appearance for Rovers on Saturday and capped that achievement off in style by scoring a brace in their 2-1 win over Rochdale to take him to double figures for the season.

In total in all competitions Richards has made 47 appearances for the League One side and scored 11 goals and picked up five assists.

Prior to this season, the most appearances he had made in a season was 20 for Manchester City Under-23's in 2018/19.

But the midfielder was grateful for Doncaster for the opportunity as they head into their final two matches of the season.

Speaking to Doncaster Free Press, He said: “I’ve loved it. There’s been so many ups and downs but it’s a great group of lads and people.

“This is what I came here for, to get minutes, meet new people and get away from the environment where I was at.

“What more can I have got? This was the perfect loan for me and I’ll always be grateful for this.

“I’ve got a lot of experience.

“I’ve played 40 games and I wouldn’t have imagined that.

“The most games I’ve played in a season is 20, so to play 40 is crazy.

“And I’ve got to thank Doncaster Rovers for the opportunity.”

Richards has now scored three goals in his two matches and he will be hoping to continue his fine form in front of goal when they travel to Blackpool tomorrow night (7pm).
