Albion head coach Graham Potter felt it was a tale of two halves for his side in their 2-1 defeat to Wolves.

The Seagulls had gone in 1-0 up early on courtesy of a header from skipper Lewis Dunk.

Then they had chances to go further ahead in the first half with Dunk seeing his header tipped onto the post by Rui Patricio and Neal Maupay firing over from close range.

However, in the second half Wolves came out and pushed for the equaliser and eight minutes into the second half were given a major lifeline.

That is after Fabio Silva got in behind the Albion defence and Dunk pulled him down leaving referee Jonathan Moss no choice but to give the skipper a straight red.

The Seagulls held onto their lead until the final 15 minutes when goals from substitute Adama Traore and a late strike from Morgan Gibbs-White secured the points for the hosts.

But Potter believes Dunk’s red card played a major part in their defeat.

He said: “Well, it certainly makes it a lot more difficult.

“I though first half we were good, deserved to in the lead and were unlucky not to add to that, whilst playing well.

“Then we started off the second half we started slowly and sloppily and then as a result of that the red card happens.

“It happened so early to keep them out, we made substitutions to try and freshen it up with some attacking players.

“But it was a tough afternoon.”
