Whitehawk will wear a unique set of kits for the next two seasons.
The Hawks have teamed up with Hope & Glory Sportswear and will wear kits made from recycled plastic bottles.
It will not not just be the kit that will be included in the partnership with training and leisurewear also part of the deal.
Both the shirt and shorts are made from RPET fabric, (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate) which is made from recycled plastic bottles that have been melted down to produce a fine yarn, creating a lower environmental impact. Every shirt is manufactured using a piece of fabric made from the equivalent of approximately 16 plastic bottles.
Hawk’s Chairman Andy Schofield said: “The EcoKit is a great idea.
“From the feel and look of it, you wouldn’t know it was made from plastic bottles.
“It’s an important statement about our commitment to the environment.
“Our ground is right next to the South Downs National Park, so you couldn’t get a better football club to be involved in a project like this.”
Hope & Glory will plant one tree for every Hawks’ home and away ‘EcoKit’ purchased, thanks to their partnership with non-for-profit organisation, One Tree Planted.
